Hi All,
We did it! Thanks to all your help and efforts last week we got the last of the beds planted before our holiday break!
Pumpkins were harvested as well as sweet potatoes and sent out to the pantries for holiday dinners! One pumpkin went to Del Valle Culinary Arts students for some of their delicious pumpkin recipes! Over 300lbs of greens and broccoli went in to the pantries as well! Irrigation leaks were fixed when needed, Ryan & Brenda mixed up batches of fertilizer all week, LP & KM got 2 beds from the week before planted up and RM worked on the Compost Area for us!
The beginning of the week we got 3 beds prepared for planting, mid week there were another 4 beds that were prepped up & 1 bed planted, then Friday found us getting 6 beds gleaned and weeded & 4 beds planted with Saturday finishing it off in a flurry of activity with amending the 6 beds and planting 9 beds! 13 beds were prepped & planted last week getting the last of our winter seedlings out of the hoop house and into the ground for harvesting next year! Over 1000 seedlings and over 400 garlic were planted into the 2600 square feet of what you all helped us to get prepared last week for the winter crops!!! Go team Go! That is almost 20% of the garden!
While it was a great year end it is a little sad with Ryan leaving the garden crew. He promises to come back and visit us all and continue helping out as much as he can. We will all miss his smiling face and his compostable wisdom;)
28,000lbs of produce was shared with our community this year! Thank you all for your concerted efforts throughout the year! We cannot make this happen without all of your help!!!! Happy Holidays everyone! We look forward to seeing you all in the new year:)
Take care
Lori
